Linger
Dolores O' Riordan taught me how to sing. She showed a younger version of myself that the unconventional twists and turns in a voice could paint emotions in ways perfectly trained ones often couldn't. As a kid, I spent hours harmonizing to her hypnotic melodies, outlining the peaks and valleys and training my ear.
In August of 2015, I made this cover of one of The Cranberries' most famous songs "Linger." I was at a different stage of my career, trying to figure out who I was and not slowing down to hear the voice inside telling me the whole time. After a solo trip to the mountains in search of clarity, I found myself gravitating to my initial muses. Alanis Morissette, Sheryl Crow, Fiona Apple & The Cranberries.
I hope by unearthing this humble demo from back when I needed it most, I can help pay Tribute to what Dolores meant to a lot of us girls growing up, looking for bad ass women to see a little bit of ourselves in. Rest in power, and thank you truly.
Love, Keeley
Here is Linger, I hope you enjoy my interpretation. It's imperfect and real and I'm finding those qualities more and more important these days.
